It seems like this movie has been out for months now. I felt like the only person who hadn’t seen it yet. But the semi-full theater told me otherwise. After reading reviews, I approach the movie with skeptical eyes. Since most reviews raved about Joss Whedon and him being the perfect choice for the franchise. I love his work, but sometimes when your hopes are high, the movie falls short of what you wanted it to be.
Overall, the movie was good. All the key elements for the story are there. Connections made between scenes and the props foreshadowed correctly. I won’t say the characters are unique in their own right. The only thing unique is their alter-ego for most of them. Yet I enjoyed them because the portrayals by the actors were spot on.
The funny moments were perfect and matched each character well. Banner coming in on a bike in the last fight had me laughing. Thor defending his ‘brother’ and then replying he’s adopted was spot on. My only real complain, and why I can’t say what a great movie it is, were all those cheesy lines scattered through the film.
Some of the cheesy lines were great and fit perfectly. Others felt out-of-place and not in sync with the scene. Maybe it is something I only noticed. Someone reminded me Whedon is known for his cheesy lines but some timed better than others in this movie. I can’t think of any at the moment. It reminds to make notes after I watch a movie.
But those cheesy lines should not stop you from watching the movie. And if you’re lucky, the people watching with you will clap and cheer along with you. Go out and watch it!
