Excitement coursed through my body when I watched the last scene of opening movie to Mists of Pandaria. It reminds me WoW is so much more than gearing and leveling up. The richness of story is real as the stats. At times it slips my mind but the opening opened my eyes again.
My attention is focused at the end game context when it should be focused on the story and how it is woven together. Sometimes my mind shifts on the gameplay versus the storyline in MMOs. The only reason I play any game is for the storyline first and then the rest second. I will push through any game mechanics I don’t like just to finish the storyline.
The latest generations of consoles no longer have games with great stories lines. And for the first time, I couldn’t finish a game because of the gameplay. Final Fantasy 13 raised my hopes to only to crush firmly within the first 10 hours of the game. No more roaming around the world but just the path chosen for you; Plain out boring and not my style for playing RPGs.
The WoW Mists of Pandaria opening is below and I have beta access due to my pre-order of the expansion. It it now time to divide my attention between my draft and WoW again.
After using the same layout for long time, I decided to change it. It’s very difference and very purple.
Can you guess what my favorite color is? ^_^ There are a few minor details left, but let me know what you think of the new layout so far.
And on non-related point. I created a new character in World of Warcraft, a draenei Paladin. I love tanking! Doesn’t she look great!
In the last few days, I started to play World of Warcraft with a friend. Since my days of console RPGs are numbered with the limited releases of ones I like and I’m tired of replaying over and over again the ones I do have, I took the recommendation to try WoW with the Starter Edition which is free for the first 20 levels. Within a few hours, I signed up for the paid account. Now I’m already at a level 22 human rogue.
I tried playing before but it didn’t click for me until this time around. Now I’m an addict playing any moment I can spare, even if it is 15 minutes. Before I started to write this post, I logged in to complete one of my daily quests.
Between WoW and writing, I subscribed to HBO so I can watch Game of Thrones Season 1. I haven’t finished the first season yet, but I can’t wait to watch the second season starting in April. I’m ashamed haven’t read the books yet but as soon as I get ahold of them I will.
I was afraid of the main characters’ deaths. But so far, they are making sense to the storyline. I hate character deaths which do not serve the plot. So with no fear going forward, I’m catching up as soon as I can.
Somehow I’m fitting all of this in between everything else life how’s to offer. Yet I can’t complain, since it is fun to do. Until my next post!
